Australian Government: services and payments for families

my.gov.au
This Australian Government website and app is a central and secure place to access a range of government services including Centrelink, Medicare, Child Support, the NDIS and the Australian Taxation Office.

Services Australia
This agency of the Australian Government can give you advice as well as social, health and child support payments and services. It manages key government agencies like Medicare, Centrelink and Child Support. The website has information about paid parental leave and child care assistance. Australian Government
This is the official website of the Australian Government. Here you can find government information and services, with links to different departments as well as state and territory government websites.

Australian Government – Department of Education
This Department runs programs and services at all levels of education and is responsible for regulating child care in Australia.

Australian Government – Department of Health
This Department is responsible for medical, pharmaceutical, hospital and aged care services in Australia. It advises government on health policy and works with state and territory governments and other agencies to deliver programs, educate the community and promote better health.

Australian Government – Department of Social Services
This Department advises the Australian Government on social policy. It manages a range of programs and services for carers, families and people with disability.

Australian Institute of Family Studies
This Australian Government agency conducts research into family issues. The website has information and resources as well as links to other family-related websites.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare
This Australian Government agency provides information and statistics on health and welfare. The Institute collects and reports information on a wide range of topics and issues, including health and welfare expenditure, hospitals, disease and injury, mental health, ageing, homelessness, disability and child protection.

Family Relationships Online
This Australian Government website has information and advice about family relationships. There’s a telephone advice  line – 1800 050 321 – and links to Family Relationship Centres in each state and territory.

On this Australian Government website you can search and apply for jobs, find apprenticeships and traineeships, and find your local employment services provider.

myfuture
This is a national careers information website, jointly managed by all the state and territory governments. It has extensive information about jobs, careers, education and training to help young people plan for their future. It includes a section for parents on helping your child choose a career.

Australian Capital Territory

Access Canberra
This is the main access point for ACT Government information and online services. You can also call the Access Canberra Contact Centre – phone 132 281.

ACT Government
The website of the ACT Government has links to government departments as well as information about the Australian Capital Territory and services available there.

ACT Government – Community Services Directorate
The ACT Government Community Services Directorate provides a range of services including children, youth and family support services, disability policy and services, therapy services, child and family centres and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services.

ACT Government – Education Directorate
The ACT Education Directorate delivers education services through government schools, registers non-government schools, and administers vocational education and training in the Australian Capital Territory.

ACT Government – Health
ACT Health sets health policy and plans the delivery of health services in the Australian Capital Territory. It also funds non-government organisations to provide health care.

New South Wales

Advocate for Children and Young People
The Advocate for Children and Young People is an independent statutory organisation within the NSW Government. It advocates for and promotes the wellbeing of children and young people in New South Wales.
